For some reason i cant remember most of my childhood. There are pieces missing that i cant account for and it freaks me out. I dont know if im suppressing memories or what? sometimes i rememeber things and dont know if they r memories of things ive made up in my mind. Should i recieve counseling or am i just making something big out of something small?

It's likely you're getting worked up over nothing. But it may help alleviate some of the anxiety you feel if you seek out professional counseling. Good luck.

hello, I can understand your concern, it would bother me not to remember most of my childhood as well, I would be wondering the same things you are. It sounds as though the memories that you aren't sure are real or made up may not be pleasant ones, am I correct? It is possible that you are repressing bad memories or that you are just trying to fill something in because you don't remember much. Either way, I would suggest talking to a counselor. They can help you figure out how to tell the difference. That does not mean there is anything wrong with you. Sometimes when our minds get so tangled up that we can't tell which direction to go it is helpful to have someone in your life that can guide you out of it and help you put things in perspective. If you do have repressed memories a counselor is the best person to help you deal with them once they resurface. It is perfectly normal for most people to have times when they need to be pointed in the right direction by someone outside of themselves and many of us don't have loved ones in their lives that are equiped to help us deal with these times properly.Therapists have a good understanding of the human mind and are usually very good at helping you sort things out without judgement. I wish you luck and happiness.
