how does one stop using acohol by them selves?
It is very difficult to stop drinking by yourself. You do not "try" to stop. Either you are "willing" to stop or you are "unwilling to stop. To "try" to stop is not possible. You need AA, detox, addiction rehab, medication that helps the craving. Good luck!

Say what? The way to stop drinking is to ....... stop drinking and never start again. Maybe you'll be tempted to start again but show that you are a real man by not giving in to temptation.
