What about private communities on Yedda?

I wish there was an option to use the Yedda platform for the Q&As of a private community. What I mean by a "private community" is the following: let's imagine I want to create an online community for the Q&As of a whole university. I wouldn't use Yedda directly because the tags for questions regarding the university's particular community could coincide with tags for the rest of Yedda's content. Search, likewise, would bring a lot of results not related with the university. On the other hand the possibility to build my own community with restricted access will make a lot of people use the Yedda platform, appreciate its convenience and eventually sign up for the original service. Another example for the application of such restricted access to Yedda's functionalities would be software support (though http://getsatisfaction.com are already doing that).

Hi Drabsv,
Our widgets could be used in 2 main configurations:

  1. The basic configuration - available to everyone using Yedda's widgets
  2. The advanced configuration - available to parties who choose to partner with us

If you choose to partner with Yedda (a simple process) you will have access to the advanced set of widget features. One of those features is the ability to configure your widget so it shows only question asked by people on your site.

So... on top of being able to create a widget that displays question related to the term “dormitory”, you will also be able to show only questions that are related to students in your university.

I hope this answers your question.

Cheers:)

Hi Drabsv,

The hardest part in creating a vibrant Q&A community is getting it started… Getting enough people to ask interesting questions and give knowledgeable answers.

Yedda's Q&A platform enables you to tap into a large pool of people who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and create your own instant Q&A community.

You will also be able to fully personalize your Q&A community by focusing it around specific topics of interest. People visiting “Drabsv Questions & Answers” will only view questions generated by the community you started or, if you choose to, you can also show your visitors other questions and Answers that are related to your website content.

Tapping into an existing community means that your community will not be a private one. What you will get is a personalized Q&A community that shares its content with the rest of the people who are using Yedda.

So continuing your University example… Creating a Q&A community for a whole university using Yedda's Q&A platform is really easy and very effective. All you have to do is visit the Yedda widgets page there you will find widgets that: enable people to ask questions on specific topics, let you display the questions asked by your community and also let people in your community share their Q&A activity and reputation.

By the way… All the widgets are customizable which mean you can integrate them seamlessly into your existing website’s look and feel.

If you need more information regarding how to set your own personalized Q&A community visit our Partners page or send me a private message on Yedda.

Cheers :)

If I create a widget to display questions on certain topics, let's say I set a topic "dormitories", the widget would display all dormitory- related questions, even those not related with my university, right?

Thank you, it does answer my question :)
