The Attorney General in your state should file for you. If you go to their office and tell them that you know you the father is, they will test for paternity right in jail. I think they will do that before they will give you any Medicaid or welfare help. My nephew is in jail and attorney generals office sent someone to the jail to do the test. It came back that he IS the father and the Attorney General then gave him parental rights. He has to pay child support when he gets out of jail and repay the state for any AFDC that the child received. Check with your state Attorney general.
