Love is the battery of life....

A:

Hi,
I read somewhere (can't recall where) that to cost of a gold medal is 193 US$.  If I'll find the source I'll return.   However we can work out a good estimate: a gold medal must be made of, at least, 92.5 % of pure silver and with, at least, six grams of gold.  That means that at the current Gold prices per troy ounce, the gold in a gold medal is worth around $160.  The present price of silver is around $14.50 per troy ounce, that means that the silver content in the gold medal is worth around $60.  All together the cost of aN olympic Gold medal is around 220 US$.  Close to the other figure I quoted.
Best regards,
