Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

To the best of my knowledge, no.

The father of the infant would be responsible to pay child support as well as perhaps the mother's costs of pregnancy and birth (if those are not covered by her parents).

If you are in this situation, your best bet is to seek advice from an experienced Family Law attorney. (If you don't have an attorney, ask your State Bar Association for a referral to an attorney in your area.)

Good luck.

Open the pod bay doors HAL

You are correct JK. The answer is no because child support is court ordered and covers only the children the father is responsible for. Child support is always subject to change thru the court but I can't imagine it being increased to cover a grandchild.

Smile, it's contagious!

Situations I'm familar with, the parents of the minor female have to sue the male that fathered the child for support.  If he too is a minor then you have to sue his parents.  As the female is a minor she cannot sue the male herself but must be represented by her parents as the suing party.  The law suit would then include all costs involved in the birthing process and pregnancy.  The child support would not be paid by the minor female's parents.  However, as a legal representative of the grandchild you could apply for assistance from any state aid programs (Wic, Medicaid, Social Services, etc.) on behalf of the minor female.

Note that the minor female must be residing with the party suing and the party applying for assistance.
