David Peltzer wrote this about the life he lived and the atrocities he endured as a child of an alcoholic mother, who had singled him out for terrible abuse. I found this to be a very hard, sad book to read. Many times, with tears in my eyes, I put the book down thinking I could not read any more since what I was reading was so tragic. After many months, I finally finished it. It is unbelievable what he had to endure. As to why he wrote the book when he did, I don't think I've ever seen any reasons given. Maybe, he felt it was just the right time to let the world know that there are children out there being abused, and sometimes, there are people who know, and are looking the other way. Maybe, it was just to give himself some peace of mind. Whatever the reason, he wrote a great book.
