I'd like to know how to program a tax rate on the ...

I'd like to know how to program a tax rate on the Sharp electronic cash register-model ER-A310.  I have a instruction manual which was provided when I purchased the cash register but it's very confusing and hard to comprehend.  Is there any easier way to program it for someone who's not electronically inclined?
