Why do I see pixels in my vision?

I've checked on Yahoo and there are others who experience it. My vision is full of pixels. When I stare at the blue sky, I see hundreds of tiny pixels, some that move in patterns. When it is dark or at night, I see thousands of them as if the pixels are what make up the objects in my vision. I asked my wife if she saw the same thing and she said no. What are these? Also, when I wake up or I am tired, my objects sometimes shift a tiny bit as if they move or my eyesight strains to focus on them, but I'm not moving. I thought maybe my eyes shift a little trying to stay focused on objects, but a person saw that my eyes don't move. Should I be concerned?

I am not an opthamologist but if you asked one I think they would tell you that you are seeing the flotsam and jetsam inside your eyeball, i.e. little bits of static or junk inside your retina.  I have seen little "worms" or little curly lines fly across my vision since I was a kid, and through the process of flicking my eyes around, learned they were on or in my eye, rather than in the sky around me.  Similarly, when I have closed my eyes at night, I have seen crazy static / sparkling imagery which I can only imagine is persistence of light plus whatever else the brain does with it.  If this described your experience, I would not be concerned.

What you are seeing are called floaters.

If they become very numerous and are disturbing your vision, see an opthamologist for treatment.

Definately have your eyes checked.  And soon. You don't want to second guess regarding something as precious as your eyesight.
