Can I use pine wood for building a ga...

Can I use pine wood for building a gazebo in my back yard? is there a need to coat it or protect it somehow?

Not any pine wood can be used to build a gazebo, but treated Southern yellow pine can be good. Cedar is also used for gazebos. Take a look here to get some idea about wood gazebos (search the page for "pine"), and for more information about wood types and treatments, I suggest you visit the WoodWeb knowledge base where you'll be able to find a lot of information (for example, this post).

You can use pine under certain conditions, keep away from moisture or water, make sure you properly seal or paint. Redwood is a good alternative. Take a look at the
