According to recent DNA testing of artifacts, Neanderthal Man is not a direct ancestors of modern man. They could not mate and produce offspring with Homo Sapiens, therefore, they are a different species of human. However, Cro-Magnum man's DNA is found in many modern humans. There were many other species of humans that did not survive, including a species reaching only three feet in adult height, and one believed to reach eight or nine feet in height. The development of humans is not a direct line.
