picking Pumpkins when they are green

We had to pick our Pumpkins cause the Squirrel and some are nice and big so some that we pick are still green what or how do we get them to turn orange  hope someone can help

I was told that i could but the pimpkins out in the sun and that they should turn orange and they are turning
