How do I get photo published, or just placed in newspaper (AP, UPI)?

I have a cute photograph that I had taken while on vacation. I would like to have it in the newspapers, AP, etc., but I want to be sure that it is credited to me. How do I go about it?. Is there a way to sell the photo for publication?
