Dogs In Danger

Growling around food is indicative of a dog who is posturing for leadership. It is one of the potential behaviors that can be simply undermined during their developmental stages as a puppy. If you are trying to prevent the behavior, you need to start young, or as young as possible. During his meal times simply reach down and take the bowl from him. Lavish him with praise and return the bowl every time he permits it. Correct him and keep the bowl for at least ten minutes if he shows the slightest sign of aggression.

What goes around comes around

Hi,

I think your dog feels he needs to guard his food in order to establish his territory and in order to show he's in charge. This is normal behavior for a dog and there's a good chance that after a while he'll stop doing this because he'll understand that there isn't anyone around posing a threat.

I love puppy breath

Poochlover is correct, you need to show your your the leader. Claim his food, several times while he`s eating, he`ll get the point.

Your chihuahua mix is food aggressive. That's bad.  When he or she growls when food is present, pick up the food for a few minutes when behavior stops give the food back, when he or she growls when food is present remove the food again, be consistent with this behavior until he/she realizes that growling takes the food away.  If there is no growling when food is present reward with praise and petting.  A dog's attention span is about 15 minutes discipline should never last longer than that  For food aggression training 2 to 5 minutes per episode should be sufficient depending on the severity of each individual episode. Five minutes is for the most severe. Also, let the dog know you are the big dog, you can demonstrate this by covering the food bowl with your body  and holding the food between your feet, which says "this is mine", you can allow your dog to eat while you maintain possession of the food with your body position. And before you allow your dog to eat, he must think you are eating first because you are the alpha dog and your pet must understand he/she is the beta dog and may only eat after you have finished, so pretend to eat some of the food in front of your dog before the bowl is offered to him/her. Be consistent and patient. This will take a little time.  Plan on being there with your dog at meal times. When you are away during his/her feeding time always check to make sure he/she has eaten. Sometimes a dog will stop eating unless you are present. If he/she has not eaten feed him/her. Persistence Pays.

God can take a terrible situation(evil is from Satan)and make it for good-have faith-act out in goodness- acting in Evil will never return a reward- wait-never make an important decision on your feelings-Love in our life is rare..even rarer with bitterness in heart- Pain causes growth..share with others in pain...give your life ..so that you may receive life !!!!!

The darling is insecure about her jewels ...her treasure being taken so I would make her so much more secure. I would make her a cave , a restaurant , a small palace in your home covering her food and allow enough inside space for her to settle in and really guard inside of  her own space. This way she is much happier and dutiful to her canine history of guarding, her space not yours....she will then not pose as a grenade in your kitchen ready to go off on whatever member of your home who is trying to eat her treasure
