Neither, if litter trained, they should both urinate inside.  I have had both a male and a female cat and they both urinate inside.

Neither. While all cats can be litter trained and will use the box to eliminate their bodily wastes regularly, both male and female cats will pee or poop outside the box if they think the litter box is too dirty. Cats are fastidious creatures, which is one reason why they clean themselves all the time, so if the box is dirty I can guarantee that both will pee or poop outside the box without hesitation! Change it regularly - and clean out the pee clumps and poop daily! It will be healthier for them and YOU!!!

Probably an intact male cat. They make their territory by spraying urine.
