Is your pet a member of the family?

Is your pet just a pet or is he/she a member of your family? If you had been in Hurricane Katrina, would you have left your pet while you evacuated or would you have grabbed your pet before leaving?

I have 3 dogs and they are everything to me. There is no way I'd ever leave them behind if something was going on. Where I go, they go. I could never forgive myself if something happened to them.

Pets are often considered to be part of the family with many people now are having birthday parties for their pets, purchasing health insurance for them and taking them along on family vacations.

I would not have even considered leaving my pet behind during katrina.

Good luck and best wishes.

I would do everything in my power to take my dog with us.

However, if I couldn't I wouldn't.

I love my dog.  He is part of the family.  But he is sort of like the free-loading uncle who sleeps on my couch.  He's fun to have around, I like to play with him, but my children and wife always come first.

I have to agree with Mrs.H. My dogs are a very important part of my family. The same way I wouldn't have left my children behind, I would never have even considered leaving the dogs behind during Katrina.

Of course, my pets are part of the family. In fact, we sometimes share the same bed. We always bring them whenever we go on vacation.

My pets {3 dogs 6 cats } are all a part of our family and I would never abandon one of them. All have their own carrier and I would have gotten out of Katrinas way, long before their safety or ours was in jepordy.

Yes, a pet is a member of the family and where I go, my pet goes too. That is the essence of family, after all. No one gets left behind.
