Does a person need love to live?

Does a person need love to live? Is it possible to

be complete and have a good life without getting married and having children? why do people feel like they have to do this? I will settle for a philosophical or even a sceintific explanation for this question.

I want to add that I really am destined to be alone....I am one of those people who really are going to be alone

no matter how many strangers tell me " there is someone for everyone", Im the exception to this rule, the cosmos skip over me when they make their plans. trust me.

Most people give love.   You might be lucky to get some back, but it shouldn't be expected.

If and individual don't give love to themself, no one else will.  Who would give love to someone who doesn't value themselves.

So yes, everyone needs love, but at minimum only from themselves.

And no-one needs to have a partner or kids.   There is just an imperative to avoid our mortality, so having others remember us to some degree keeps us immortal.

Best of luck.

Sounds like your to busy feeling sorry for yourself to receive anything. Figure out what you want and go get it. Stop expecting everyone to do things for you.

The road to nowhere is paved with good 'intentions'.

Hi Pearl620.  This is such an interesting question.  I lived alone as a bachelorette for 10 glorious years and loved it!  Loved myself, loved my life, my house, and my freedom, loved God, Everything!  I just couldn't seem to 'conform' to our Married w/ 2.3 children society.  I changed my lifestyle because I actually did 'unexpectedly' fall inlove with someone when I was 40 years old!.. Believe me, sometimes true love sneeks up on you when you least expect it!.. but the confirmed bachelorette or bachelor lifestyle can be a WONDERFUL thing, as long as you know who you are, that it's a healthy 'choice' you know you're making for yourself.. you're a good person, a good friend, and you love yourself! Love your life!   Yea, I think there are a lot of people who are happy not 'conforming' to everybody elses expectations!  Be yourself!  Be happy!

I also have to add this.. It's sort of my own theory!    I have a very close relationship with God, and always have.  (Maybe you do too)!  So I wonder if certain types of people who really have God active in their lives, already feel, and have all the love they need,.. so looking for all kinds of love and affection from 'people' just really isn't nessesary?... Like that void so many of us are scrambling to fill is already filled to the brim!  (That's the only way I can discribe that contentment)!    Till next time...

Sounds like judgement of someone whose circumstances and situation you don't know.  For some of us with certain mental illnesses, relationships are or almost impossible let alone marriage.  I have bipolar disorder and the divorce rate is 90% for people with bipolar disorder.  I'm 56 years old and I love myself and am satisfied, content and happy with who I am.  Love has not come my way nor have I found it.  I have made a lot of bad decisions and gotten into relationships for reasons other than love.  I love and give to others, I'm a very loving person.  I am fully compliant with my medical team, take my meds and do the best I can with my disorder.  At this juncture in my life, I don't expect to find love or have it find me.  But it's ok, I'm happy with me and although it would be a dream come true, it's not going to ruin my life if it doesn't happen.  I love someone very much right now, truly and honestly.  He doesn't feel the same for me.  For the first time I can say I feel this love, deeply and honestly.  I am thankful for being able to feel it even if I can't have it back from the man I love.
