My period is late for 3 moths....

I am a 22 year old.  My period has always been "late"  a few days or a week but never three months.  Last day of my period was Jul 02. Around August 5th I had a few spots on my underwear, but it wasn't a normal period.  Because I was on Vacation in Europe at that time I thought that it is b/c of climate/water/food change.  I didn't even get any spots in Sep. I am sexually active and in a relationship, so I thought that maybe I am pregnant.  I took the home pregnancy test and it was negative.  I took teh test a few after that but still negative.  So I went to a clinic, and they took a urine sample, ran the test and negative results again.  Now I have an appoitment scheduled with a womens doctor, but I am scared.  Has anyone had this happen before?  What could be the cause of this?  Is there another way to test for pregnancy besides using urine?

Do Not Eat, Please!

I'm not sure about the pregnancy test thing, but you also may be late because of an iron deficiency. If you haven't tried to donate blood, you may have to get a blood test to check for it. If you are deficient, (a lot of women are <me, included>) the following foods will help

-raisins

-sunflower seeds

-and meats, of course.

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

Cancer treatment

Lots of possible causes for a late period - few of them serious.

If pregnancy has been excluded (and I think it probably has from what you say) then the second most likely cause is "idiopathic" - in other words of unknown cause. Usually just settles down again on its own.

Stress can cause menstrual irregularity. So can some other medications. Weight change can be a reason - along with more unusual things like thyroid problems or other hormone imbalance.

Try not to worry. I think you should go see the specialist but I'm sure things will be fine.

Hope this helps

hi there! we got the same problem of missed period, but mine was a week or two weeks late. i should have had my period last January 25, but it did not came..feb2, i got little signs of blood until feb 5. but not as normal flow of my previous menstruation. i took a pregnancy test feb 7 and the result is negative then again by feb. 13 still negative,,, its already 2 weeks and i guess, to take awy my doubts.. i would still be having a pt on the 21st... if its negative again, maybe i have hormonal imbalance, and have to see the doctor... this also happened before. and i was so scared because Im not ready to have another child yet. i looked for possible answers to my questions, and some site said that misse dperiod could be due to stress or having a big event in your life (vacation, changing environment) and most especially if you are stressed and worrying.

This is a seriuos problem. After going to clinics and still can't find the right answer, this could be something unusual. After going to the doctor what does he/she said? If still haven't have the right answer maybe you should find gynecologist that eliminates your doubts and is very experienced doctor.
