When did people refer to the year in which they lived, as such?

In what year did people start to refer to the number of the year in which they lived. Obviously, although we know what the year 1 was; but, did the people living in the year 1 call it such? I doubt it. When did people start to say, "This is the year xx?"

Around 753 B.C. , this date is accurate for the Roman culture I am sure there are different figures for the Chinese culture or other Asian culture.
