How many people believe that herbal supplements should be FDA approved ?

Would  you take  a herbal supplement  that  you  know  ,You can  risk  your  health  and that it's    not  FDA approved  ?  These  people  who make  herbal  supplements ,  is  living  very well ,  in Hawaii  and   Florida ,on  people  who buy  their  herbal supplements   and  they  do  not  care  what  happens  to  you , I  know  if  some thing is  not  FDA  approved   I  am not  taking  health risk?

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

There would be no supplements on the market if this were the case.

I understand where you are coming from and I agree. I also know that FDA stands for Flailing around and Dawdling Agency. And while they take a lot of time to do things, at least it costs the one wishing to market a product a ton of money.

I take supplements. I research them as best I can and buy them from reliable sources.

Excuse me. I have to run. I need to meet my dealer to buy a bag of Echinaceae.

Some countries define dietary supplements as foods, while in others they are defined as drugs. I am sure that there are herbal supplements sold that have levels of risk seen. That's no guarantee of safety. Look at ephedrine. It's been around for centuries, and it was in all kinds of herbal "energy" and diet supplements, including Metabolife, until it finally killed a couple of famous people gave the FDA the leverage to convince the courts that it was a drug.
