Why are most people afraid ..........

Why are most people afraid to ask for help from others when that is the only way to get help with the issues that are binding the individual?

From early childhood we are taught to be independent and do everything on our own. This is part of our self-image and that is affected when we must ask for help. Actually a sign of maturity is the realization that no one can do everything without help. We have to recognize those weaknesses where we must call on others to help.
