Did the wine used in the Passover Feast contain alcohol? (I have had some

replys to this question, but what I need is some jewesh person who

observes the passover in their home to respond.I am aware that in the

observance of the weekly Sabbath evening meal, both alcoholic and non

alcoholic wine can be used. But is this true of Passover?)

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

No the wine that was used in biblical times were from fermented grapes. It did not contain alcohol. Be Blessed.

Yes it was.  It seems like Tippy doesn't know that "fermented" grapes equal wine.

Sunshine,

Tippy may not know that fermented grapes equal wine but I do know that During primary fermentation, which often takes between one and two weeks, yeast converts most of the sugars in the grape juice into ethanol (alcohol). During passover jews were not allowed to eat or come in contact with yeast or leavin.

So are you saying that when Jesus passed the cup to his disciples at the passover of the last supper, he was serving them yeast, which was against Jewish customs?

Be Blessed.

If it didn't contain alcohol, it wouldn't be called wine.

Let me see if I have this right!

If the wine contained alcohol and alcohol comes from yeast fermentation, and God said not to use yeast during passover, then Jesus deceiving his jewish disciples passed the cup of wine with yeast at passover, making God a liar.

Is that what you are saying? Did I get it right?

Be Blessed.
