hey guys, Ive noticed recently that a lot of bananas purchased here in Australia from the supermkt seem to develop severe bruising after a few days and the core goes very soft and black.
Large sections have to be scooped out and discarded. Sometimes it seems to originate in the "icky bit" or pistil distil at the base.

Does anyone know what causes this and what is the correct name for it.
