what does weight on sketch paper mean, for instance: 60lb. My son is away at prison and ask me to get him paper for drawing. When I started my search I found it harder than I thought.
The weight of paper is determined by the weight a standard sheet (35 inch X 44 inch) multiplied by a ream (500 sheets). Normal printing paper for books is 20 lb. Therefore the drawing paper your son asked you to buy in an art supply store for pencil sketching is 60 lb., making it a fairly heavy sheet of paper. You should ask him for the size of the sheet that he needs. 60 lb. drawing paper is also supplied in various sized pads for convenience.
