Depending on your state and state statues, a judgement will be rendered either in your favor or the other party. Getting a judgement in your favor means that the person will still have a length of time to satisfy said judgement.
Most states give about 10 days to satisfy a judgement. There are also extenuating circumstances that may allow the other part to ask for a reduced judgement award (job loss, bankruptcy).
The short answer, it's very rare that you'll walk out of court with a check in your hand from the offending party.
