Your credit report will reflect any line of credit you have, and will reflect the credit limit and outstanding balance of your home equity line. If the creditor does an inquiry, then yes, this information would be available for them to see. Since the credit card is an unsecured debt, if would probably not be wise to exchange this debt for a secured debt by paying it with your line of credit, as this would then take every grocery, mc donald lunch, etc you pruchased with this card and place it against the equity of your home. This said, if you are unable to pay the debt, those expenses could in effect then be placed against your home. Depending on the amount you owe the credit card, you may wish to resolve this matter via the hardship program offered by the credit card company, or you may wish to offer a settlement on the current balance. This can be done yourself if you know what your doing,or you may consult with a debt settlement agency. Be sure to do your research and find a reputable one if you chose to go this route.
