How to overcome a forced abortion.....

I had an abortion when I was 23...I am 28 now..I did not want it to happen...my b/f at the time basically threatened to kill me and my son(we had him when I was 17 and he was 18) if I did not go in the clinic and get it done.He said he hated kids and didn't want anymore....now he is married and they just had a baby together...which hurts....but my question is "How do you get over having an abortion when you didn't want the abortion?"

You need to talk to someone about how all of this makes you feel. Be it a councilor, psychologist or a friend you need help and it's better if it's professional. There is no easy way to get over such an experience but you definitely need to deal with this and the sooner the better. Once you open this up I think it'll make everything easier for you.

Bluetigersun,

The first thing is to forgive yourself.  You were young and it is not your fault!!!  Women blame them selves for there partner's actions.  It is him who has the problem and it has nothing to do with you.  You sound like a wonderful human being.  You need to stop thinking something is wrong with you when it is him, all of these feelings you have about what happened is because he had a problem, not you.  Just think about it remember how you felt about the child, you were happy.  You did nothing wrong so forgive not only yourself but him as well.  Start fresh look at things with new eyes,  start appreciating the little things and don't put everything on your shoulders at once take it a day at a time and don't think about tomorrow, live in the present.  You might have lost something but you gained by not being with someone who thinks that about a child and threats you.  It will take time but in time things pass and other things begin.  Good luck and remember how someone else feels has nothing to do with you seperate your feelings from them.
