Outsourcing to India is definitely a great idea - cost effective for sure. Reasons are simple:

* Cost of manpower is less (far less if I must say)

* Quality manpower is readily available

* Telecom network is now fast and reliable

* People have now extensive experience of managing international projects

* Major tech hubs has a huge pool of professionals for sharing knowledge and resources

* English is easily understood and spoken by a majority of tech workers and manageres

* People now know major tech trends and in many cases starting them right here in India

* Innovation is now the keyword after almost 20 years of leading on the outsourcing front and going up all the time on the value chain

Yes - it is a cost-effective idea. However, before deciding on outsourcing you should be clear about your requirement. For example

  • If web development involves significant amount of programming and is not a standard static/e-com/community site, then going with cheaper options would not be a good idea.
  • If you need certain technologies to be used, which are not common, again cost effective options may be over-promising you. If you are open about technologies, then it should work out fine.

I absolutely agree that Outsourcing business is a cost effective idea for any enterprise especially if given to India.....

This is because:

* Availability of cheap and efficient workforce
* Computer savvy and English speaking workforce
* Better infrastructure in terms of communications
* Quality certified software firms
* Relatively stable government
* Investor friendly laws

In India, I have seen tremendous development in Outsourcing business especially small firms. Due to the above advantages, companies from small towns are emerging as major players in this field and doing very well. For example a company called Vindia from a small town called Jabalpur, M.P. is doing remarkably well in outsourcing IT Services and established themselves as a great potential company specially among Isreali clients.

Pakistan Anti-India Protest

More than two thousand Islamists, mainly students, took to the streets of Pakistan's capital Islamabad on Wednesday (December 3) to protest against Indian accusations over the attacks on Mumbai last week, Indian investigators have said the Mumbai attackers had months of commando training in Pakistan by the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, blamed for a 2001 attack on India's parliament. Pakistan has condemned the Mumbai assault, denies any involvement by state agencies and has offered to work with India in its investigations into the attacks. Pakistan rejects what it calls "unsubstantiated allegations" of complicity. Chanting "We are alive, by the grace of Allah," the protesters marched towards the Parliament House but were stopped by security personnel behind barbed wire barriers. "In the wake of the self-inflicted terrorism in Mumbai, India wants to become another America, and plans to attack Pakistan," Raees Gul, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami's students wing told the crowd, which prayed for Pakistan and burned flags of India, the US and Israel. India has said most, if not all, the 10 militants who rampaged through its financial capital killing 171 people were from Pakistan, including the one survivor. India has long said Pakistan is unable or unwilling to act against anti-India militant groups there. The latest attacks risk unravelling improved ties between the adversaries, who have fought three wars since independence from Britain in 1947.
