i have conventional cast iron radiators in my house, but i am unsure how they operate. I have checked my basement and looked at what appears to be a boiler, but how do i know if it is turned on? there pressure gauge reads zero. I have tried turning the knobs located on the actual radiator but they are capped, painted over, and difficult to turn. Is this the way to go about making heat come out? what do i need to do to get warm? thank you
