I've been a die hard democrat from the time I was 12, seriously. As I grew older I found that it is not as simple as being a republican or democrat. Politics have gotten complicated, the issues aren't black and white, many issues come in shades of gray. I now find myself in the middle most of the time. Much to my own surprize, I liked Ron Paul and would have voted for him if he were nominated. I've never voted Rebublican in my life, I'm 51. I wish I could tell you why he didn't get more support. It's probably our loss. I know that americans judge people on how they look, how they speak, and sometimes the content of what they are saying gets lost. This election was all about race and gender, the dems were locked in to win. That still doesn't explain how Paul lost to someone as uncharismatic as McCain. Sorry I wasn't more help.
