Don't expect me to be, what I am not,

Accept me as I am, as I have done the best I can with my life,

In helping others, hang on to life, I have had to put mine on hold. Now I am ready to catch up!

Off with the old_on with the new yedda!

Hi, I first learned of this site in 2007, I believe. I haven't been too active with it, as I write Children's Books and articles for some small town papers.I am 80 YO and have 18 Great Grandchildren, and that plus 3 volunteer jobs keeps me pretty busy. I don't sit in a rocker all day, but; I ROCK! Especially when I do Stand Up Comedy. Well, now for my big Question? Why on earth do you keep questions, especially, meaningless, questions on this site for years? I answered a couple tonight that I thought were at least in the 2009 time frame. One especially, by one of your staff in regard to Mozart's death. I thought it was a new question, but after I found out how old it is I couldn't believe it! There are so many wonderful and beautiful things to find out about and ask about without the dribble from some of these people who want to know when to have sex. Who really cares? I answered that very nicely last year and then when I saw it again and got an e-mail about it, I thought My Heavens, if this girl and her live in haven't had sex yet they have probably joined a convent, and he has gone into the Priesthood. Can't you have a cut-off time for these questions, even a month is too much. There is always new material out there, so drop the ones you have kept for over 6 months and keep us a little more intrested in answering them.If they don't get an answer in 6 months , there is no answer!Let's start to see more intelligent questions and answers! You will gain a lot more coverage this way than someone digging up Mozart!Especially after all these years. Don't misunderstand I love your site I just can't take ignorance, and there is a lot of it on here. People just put any stupid answer that comes into their head and get 12 thumbs-up. For what, a date? I wish all your questions and answers were screened by someone who would really read them and decide if they are worth printing. I would like to see YEDDA become one of the( HOT SPOTS) of the internet and it could if you would take it a bit more seriously, and let people know what they can write, and make sure they understand this is not a kids playground. I think the POGO SITE for games has the most people on it at any given time of the day and night. I love it because it is intresting and keeps my brain alive. I can answer all the Trivia questions because I have lived it. So get some new material, quick! Otherwise you will be playing POGO all night like I do. In Deep Appreciation of What You are Trying to Accomplish, I remain. MJL. Thank you for reading this,I am not the only one who uses this site that shares my feelings.

I see that your question's topic is 'for Yedda alone to answer' but I'm going to throw my two cents in, anyway.

I agree that a lot of the questions on here are nonsense, or close to it. But that is of course, opinion; as what may seem idiotic to me may very well be a life-and-death matter to someone else.

Certainly, a lot of the questions are repetitive and (should you look long and hard enough) may have already been answered in a previous thread. The problem is that, with the sheer amount of visitors a site such as Yedda engenders, it is nearly impossible to determine whose question warrants preservation and whose deserves deletion.

So, they all remain open for observation. Fascinating? Sigh.

Well, perhaps it will help if you look at it as historical preservation - a slice of cultural anthropology, if you will... interesting to the casual observer; yet fascinating to the student of human behavior.

Meanwhile, let us all aspire to keep our brains as thoroughly alive as you have done - and here's hoping you won't find yourself bored to death by the tedium which occasionally manifests!

I am known for my, shall we say, lack of tact. It is VERY hard for me to do anything OTHER than speak my mind, but I find that typing replies to many of these questions has helped me learn a modicum of tact, as I keep having to remind myself not to answer what was not asked (even if I think their question is lacking) and not to offer an opinion as to what they SHOULD do, if that also was not requested.

Meanwhile, if you want to stop the notification of replies to your old questions, etc. I believe you may be able to go into 'Settings' and adjust some of the automatic system responses so you might check into that and see if it's doable.

And you're correct - I'm just 53 with only one grandchild; I've got a ways to go to catch up with you!

I call myself jkgrandma on here because I don't want to use a name that would identify me, nor did I want to use a name that I already use in other online forums or in my emails.

The 'jk' stands for the initials of my first and middle names; the 'grandma' is because I'm a grandma, of course. I only have one grandchild, but that still counts!

I'll try to shoot you an email tomorrow; it's a non-Grandma day so I'll have more time. (I watch my grandson while my daughter's at class; he's 16 months and extremely active so I don't have much extra time when I'm on Grandma duty!)

Dear JKGrandma, I think you have a lot of good points in regard to my letter, however the point I was really trying to get across is that most of these questions, have been on this site entirely too long. Then there remains a question as to why do I keep getting e-mails that there is a new response to a question I answered two years ago? Ludicrous! If I were to tell my Friends on-line to ask a question on (YEDDA) and they all responded, then there would be more than we could handle to answer and , guess what? They would all be new and refreshing. I think it is right that anyone who wants, may put a question on here, and even if the question seems absurd, doesn't really matter. There are people that love to answer those questions, so be it! After the question has been answered and the writer is satisfied, then take it off and make room for a new one.I have one on here from last year that needs to be removed and I shall do it as soon as I figure out how! I enjoyed your response and really admire your use of words, they make me seem like a boring jerk. I have yet to be bored as I can remember, nor am I tedious. I am a retired R.N. and have been a Nanny five times. I have three volunteer jobs and I also do stand up comedy; (that is when I can stand up) I just had my 18th Great Grandchild, and another on the way. This leaves a very small amount of time for boredom. Do you see any answers on here from Yedda? Probably won't as one of the staff still wants to know when Mozart died. Until he finds out and is happy with his answers, we will still be seeing his Question. I guess you are a Grama too, but you are a long way from 80YO, I would like to bet, so when you reach my age, perhaps you too will feel more free to speak your mind, than now. My Mother always taught me;"If you are thinking something worthwhile saying, just say it!" Thanks again for your kind words, and I guess I can say; they fell on deaf ear, because you guessed it, I am deaf. I thank GOD daily that I can see. Blessings, MJL

Grandma,

Why do you call yourself that? I have a Daughter who will be 52 next January.I have 5 Children, fom ages;61-50 and all before I was 30yo. They have 11 Children, and those kids have my 18 Great Grandchildren. Amazing isn't.

i went back to my favorite writer on here and he is from Isreal> His name is Oren and he has answered so many important questions on here that I was really ashamed at what I wrote . There are all types of people in the world ,and I haven't found many that wasn't intresting enough to listen to or read what they have to say. I am not completely deaf ,but I was in the Coliseum explosion here in Indianapolis on Halloween night in 1963. 81 People were killed including my Mother-In-Law and seven of my Friends. A result of which made me lose most of my hearing as we were in front of the hole that blew the people down on to the ice and buried us. Well hope we can talk. Why don't you e-mail me at:mjnanday@aol.com?

I would like that.

GOD BLESS, MJL

Hi, My closing words are,Of all people I thought Yedda would have a reasonable reply to this one ,but guess I caught them with their shades off. Where is the ole College spirit, you expect of us? How can we be expected to answer some of these impossible questions if we can't even get one from you? I have now lost faith in Yedda, as I thought no question would be too tough for you. Well I won't give up hope for another week. GOD BLESS YOU! MJL
