Should it be okay for men not to wrap gifts?

It depends on if it comes in a pretty bag or a pretty box! A gift that comes to a girl in a nice way shows more thought and is more meaningful.

No, in my opinion this is not okay. I don't care if it's beautifully wrapped, but I want him to make some kind of effort.

Heck, wrap it in the comics page, I don't care. Just show me that you put some of yourself into it, somehow.

Dude, here's the thing. Often the gift itself doesn't matter so much as the effort you put into it. It can be badly wrapped, but it matters to a woman that you TRIED. It's the total package, you see. It's not just thinking and putting in the effort to find just the right gift, but the presentation as well. This shows her that you consider her, that she's worth the effort, that you care.

I think it's mostly a machismo thing; "Be grateful that I actually went shopping for you - don't expect me to decorate it too". (Not that I feel this way/I like wrapping presents)

On the other hand, if the woman you're giving it to has set a precedent of not liking what they're given, leave it in the bag with the receipt.  That way, it's easier for her to return it to the store.
