What are the best things to eat after I workout? I usually jog for a half an hour and lift weights for about an hour. What exactly should I eat after that?

Hi,

After I'm done working out I always eat right away (most effictively is up to 30 minutes since the workout is over), I try to eat carbs which can be found in fish, bread, rice, etc.

I have a friend who goes to the gym and he always drinks a protein shake when he gets back home. I thought everyone were doing it?

That's true a lot of people do use it. For me though, since I have a big body structure, it is not as efficent as I would hope since I don't need that much muscle growth as someone who is skinnier.. I would rather also to get it in a natural way rather than a supplement.

The most important thing to eat after a workout - especially one with a lot of weight-lifting, is protein. You should try a protein shake, some chicken breast, some fish, eggs (watch the yolks - especially if your cholesterol is high - try making an omelet with 3-4 whites and 1-2 yolks), soy protein, yogurt, or cottage cheese. Go for some fruit to get your sugars back up without overdoing the carbs. For a quick and cheap fix, have 2-3 yogurts (the kind that has fruit in it).

Also, be sure to drink a lot of water. Caffeine is good before the workout, not so great afterwards.

The best thing one should have after workout is proteins ..protein shake is a good choice and at the same time . I would also prefer a lemonade along with it. The

food should be such that it just don't fill up your stomach but it adds nutritional value to your health

It depends on your fitness program.  If you want the fastest way to build muscles then you should eat as many healthy foods you want.  But if you want to trim down weights then light foods must be consumed.

I'm not a doctor or anything but I'm pretty sure that jogging definitely does NOT make you fat. It's actually a great cardio exercise that is essential to staying fit.
