Hi,

After I'm done working out I always eat right away (most effictively is up to 30 minutes since the workout is over), I try to eat carbs which can be found in fish, bread, rice, etc.

I have a friend who goes to the gym and he always drinks a protein shake when he gets back home. I thought everyone were doing it?

That's true a lot of people do use it. For me though, since I have a big body structure, it is not as efficent as I would hope since I don't need that much muscle growth as someone who is skinnier.. I would rather also to get it in a natural way rather than a supplement.

Liquid carbs and protein either from eggs or meat (or whey)
0.8 gr carbs per KG in your body and half of that protein..

that's what's the reccomended minimum although I'd eat dubble that with my metabolism...

you shouldn't care about timing anything between a few minutes to a few hours is okey , A good Idea would be to do some streching and flexing to get pumped a few minutes after that meal

Also drop the jogging it maeks you fat and weak easoecially near a workout... so what if it burns calories in the short run... your bf% has nothing to do with calories

The most important thing to eat after a workout - especially one with a lot of weight-lifting, is protein. You should try a protein shake, some chicken breast, some fish, eggs (watch the yolks - especially if your cholesterol is high - try making an omelet with 3-4 whites and 1-2 yolks), soy protein, yogurt, or cottage cheese. Go for some fruit to get your sugars back up without overdoing the carbs. For a quick and cheap fix, have 2-3 yogurts (the kind that has fruit in it).

Also, be sure to drink a lot of water. Caffeine is good before the workout, not so great afterwards.

The best thing one should have after workout is proteins ..protein shake is a good choice and at the same time . I would also prefer a lemonade along with it. The

food should be such that it just don't fill up your stomach but it adds nutritional value to your health

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

Hi Lior

One of my roles is as team doctor for a professional football (soccer) team

The standard post match routine is

  1. Water or isotonic drinks to replace fluids
  2. Protein shake to prevent muscle stiffness and reduce risk of injury
  3. Pasta with tomato based sauce and fruit smoothie drinks as the first food intake about an hour post match when the players begin to feel hungry

Hope this helps

It depends on your fitness program.  If you want the fastest way to build muscles then you should eat as many healthy foods you want.  But if you want to trim down weights then light foods must be consumed.
