Where was the nurse?

Physicians are Gods and are rarely questioned or challenged. There is such a conflict of interest as they are viewed by the hospital as a customer to be pleased at all cost. There was someone with an RN behind their name and I hope they questioned putting that patient asleep before the physician's availablity could be verified. Very likely not as many nurses have lost the ability to stand up for thier patient worrying for thier job security. I'm sure she did not feel she would have been supported had she protested. This is just the tip of the iceburg in near misses and precursers to medical dissasters patients face everyday. You have no idea. I have been a nurse for 30 years and ready to leave the profession because there is so much lip servcie to patient safety yet efficiency and the bottom line rule supreme.

Patient safety is all our job...We are the pt. advocate...Sounds like the good doctors need to have a good old fashion ass kickin....

Sorry to hear it's such a dismal scene. Not being genuine is a real problem. I've heard about top doctors in the best institutions who prescribe batteries of tests just to gain more money out of the patient. We just need to practice integrity where ever we are and whatever we do. It's the only way to affect real change
