Why are so many things in souhwest utah named "dixie"
Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.
During the Civil War, some of Brigham Young's followers tried growing cotton in that region, to replace the fibers that were no longer coming from the southern states. People started calling southwest Utah "Dixie" by association.
