And He scores!!!!

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

Anywhere he wants to.

AA, hands down, has the best track record of anyone. No one else is close.

AA describes itself as a spiritual program, not a religious one.

If the alcoholic wants the best chance possible for a sober life, he will to to AA.

This answer is a factual one. I am not impugning anyone's right to choose his beliefs.

Here is a word picture; perhaps it could help. There is a man who hates red. He takes an ocean voyage and falls overboard. Someone on the ship sees this and throws him a red life preserver. What does the drowning man do?

For the person that is the basis for this question, I wish you well.

NOTICE: By the time you have noticed this notice, you will have noticed that this notice is not worth noticing.

I agree with the above; AA has the best track record in getting and staying sober.  However, if you're adamant about the "religious" aspect of the program, search out either SOS ("Save our sobriety", or RR (Rational Recovery) in your area.  They are much less popular, but both have NO religious aspect.  If, however, like me, you can distinguish between religion and spirituality, ignore everyone when they talk about "God", (I leave the meeting whenever the  chairman chooses "God" as a subject) and when they allude to a Higher Power, I use the AA group as a whole as my Higher Power (they [meaning the group as a whole, not some individual person], because THEY can stay sober, but, by myself, I cannot.).They have the best record of keeping people sober.  It's only about 5%, but that's better than either SOS or RR.
