THAT WHICH DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER.

Bull. Reality is, it will usually hurt like hell and leave you with a permanent limp.

Americans don't want to face the truth about what some of our servicemen and some government agencies have done.  The pictures exist - no matter what they show, it is real - we did whatever it is that is on those pictures.  The world is aware of the pictures;  and as long as they are hidden, the world is going to assume they are of the most horrid and despicable actions.  Until we face reality, admit reality, and deal swiftly and harshly with ALL those responsible for those actions,  American credibility is non-existent.  No matter what those pictures depict,  those who oppose the US are going to claim they are of worse atrocities than they really are:  and as long as we continue to hide them,  we are proving their point.

Time flies like an arrow.

Fruit flies like a banana.

Al Qaeda will add the pictures to its collection of recruiting posters, which is a good reason for not publishing them.

As for us, we already have evidence that the stuff happened, and that some of the people who got caught doing it were tried and jailed while those higher up who wanted it done are still free and denying that anything wrong happened.  That is the seedy way such situations would be handled in the Soviet Union or Egypt -- a few little guys get hung out to dry while the big guys walk.  We used to think, some of us, that America didn't pull that sort of stuff.  We can still say we dont, like in the Soviet Union or Egypt, but everybody including us now knows the truth.  We used to stand for something in the eyes of the world and in our own eyes, but our behavior the last few years has made it just another sales pitch.
