The year has been filled with hope. After the last eight years of GW Bush and company, we finally have a leader who is trying his best to overturn the eight years of hatemongering and unilateral instead of bilateral. That is why the world totally distrust us. Obama is mending fences as quickly as he can. When he flew to Europe to secure the games, that is his job as President to secure jobs for the Nations unemployed. "Lingerger and Beck" were so happy that he failed that they jumped up and down in their chairs on the tv set. To me, to wish for failure from no one important borders on treason. When Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize these same people jumped up and down claiming that he should have never won the award. Well, sometimes it is not what you have accomplished at the moment, but what is expected of you in the future. To me, Obama is a refreshing change to the political landscape in eight terrible years of GW Bush. Michael Joel Held

Your direction, not your intentions, determines your destina

tions.

Not all of Mr. Held's opinions are shared, but that's what makes this work. I do think that the Nobel Prize given to Obama was a headliner, because you are suppose to be judged on what you have accomplished not on what you think will be accomplished in the future. This Nobel Prize was suppose to be voted on in Feb.,12 days after Obama took office. He didnt do anything in those twelve days to warrant such an award. It is political and everyone knows it.

I think the deaths of Jackson, Fawcett, Kennedy were headliners. The New Health Care is a big headline. The reliving of 9/11 was a headliner, though tragic. There were quite a few.I wouldn't want to be on a committee to choose.

If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed. - Mark Twain

Unfortunately, I think this Fort Hood, TX army base shooting is one of the top 5. How utterly sad and makes you wonder if all Muslims have an inkling of hate for American values no matter where they live.
