A friend has a home in default in New Jersey and ...

A friend has a home in default in New Jersey and am looking for a couple months of assistance to get them back to normal payments without having to take out a loan or pay back funds, is there any type of assistance out there to do this?

there are assistance programs, but her best choice is to negotiate with the mortgage company for either a lower rate, or spreading the missed payment over a certain length of time or tacking it onto the end.
