This isn't going to be easy but I'll try. The body uses electrical signals to pass information through its nerve cells, also known as neurons. EPSP is when there is a change in the electrical potential of the nerve cell membrane that causes excitation. The same signal that causes excitation in some cells can cause inhibition in others. That is the IPSP. There is a lot of electricity in this topic but I thought it would confuse the discussion.
