YES unless you are going buy land or sea. Then you need the new Passport card. If you go on an airplane you must have a passport!!!!!!!

If you are a citizen of the U.S., you do not need a passport. There are other documents you can use. These include Trusted Traveler Cards (NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST) and a State Issued Enhanced Driver's License among others.
