FoxNews.comI am trying to find out who to send some information to about an event happening in a small Alabama town. On August 28, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the Morgan County Courthouse in Decatur Alabama a ceremony will take place honoring Judge James E. Horton, Jr. Judge Horton was the presiding judge in the Scottsboro Boys trial in 1933. When he did the right thing and granted a new trial on the basis that the verdict of the jury was against the great weight of the evidence he ended his judical and political career forever. By doing this he saved the defendants from dying in the electric chair. I know in the sceme of things this isn't "breaking news", but I would hope enough people would be interested in this historic event to never forget it happened. In Maxwell Anderson's play, Valley Forge,it was said,"There are some men who lift the level of the age in which they live, so that all men stand on higher ground. This describes Judge Horton's judicial career. If you are interested you can reach me at anndenbo@aol.com or 256-654-0955.Thank you for your consideration. Ann Denbo
