I think there's more mystery than anything. Scientific discoveries in general have barely scratched the surface.

There are a lot of people, scientists included, that believe there's a strong connection between brain activity and the paranormal. Science doesn't even fully understand how the brain works, so I'm sure they're way behind on the key mystery front.
