Do you think celebrities traveling to the third world countries and visiting care centers is just an act of gaining publicity or truly an act of pure goodness?

I think travel out to other countries does broaden one horizon and vision. Remember the Peace Corps started by President Robert Kennedy; at the time it  was liken a bright ray of hope of friendship of peace BEING FORGED between Russia and USA.Sadly, today the world is a brink of war and simply not PEACE.I think we should be that beatitudes for "blessed are those who are peacemaker for they shall be called a child of God"...

To stay alive you need to learn every day - you never know

I don't think it is that black and white. Organizations need attention and when only ordinary people are engaged it is hard to get attention. Celebrities are living from attention and when it gets less with them they will grab opporunities to be in public. In addition to that the 'real' world of a celebrity is not my reality and there might be a hype to do good thing for the third world. Although also people compete there like Bob Geldolff and Al Gore on the "Live" concept

Laughing I would conclude - there are some who are honest and the rest does it as part of the attention they get.

The first step can take you anywhere!

I think that with celebrity comes certain responsabilities. I also think that there are certain people who feel that they are in a position to do good.

If they are doing it for the right reasons then there is nothing wrong in using there fame to highlight certain charitees, you have people like "Sting" "Peter Gabriel" who have done no end of good but there are also celbrities who just think it's the thing to do. I suppose if they help in the end then does it realy matter if they get publicity out of it as well?

Not easy to be sure. Acts of pure goodness, and selflessness are truly rare. Possible,.............but rare.

Even the "best" of people are still human, and somewhat selfish in nature, but thats just human nature.

Even with that in mind, doing something good for someone else...........is still a good thing .

My opinion.
