This all depends on what you like, are you an audiophile? Or do you just want to jam, if you want the super clarity then you need to work for it a bit re encode etc. If you want to put a lot of songs on a small mp3 then you need to use a smaller number remember the number (64,128,etc) is a way of telling you how big the file is higher number bigger file! I suggest trying one or two songs you know well and putting them on the device at different levels then try to tell the difference, many people can't. Then if you want to start becoming an expert music wizard you can get free tools to change the size and sound of the files! One good place to look for free tools is sourceforge they have lots of stuff to do just this with.
