One single medication, Iwould agree with citrine1. Good work, Citrine1!
However you did ask if there are medications (Plural) that can cause decay of your teeth.
There are several medications in COMBINATION that produce a very negative decay problem. Even with fervant cleanings, every 6 months, the plaque & tartar build at an incrediable rate. The MEDICAL Condition/Diagnosis is: Xerostomia (dry mouth/cotton mouth) - it can cause decay to occur more rapidly. When decay is present it can make it difficult for patients to chew their food, thus nutrition becomes a factor. Usually the decay is so serious, crowns are needed, along with FLORIDE TRAYS, used 1 time a week, to slow down the process.
Firstly, I would have a complete evaluation by a Dentist of reputable knowledge. Have an estimate of what the work will cost. If you have dental insurance, my insurance company (CIGNA) processed my claim outside of the limited Dental Benefits, since there was a MEDICAL diagnosis. They paid over $9,000.00 at 100%! I hope you are fortunate enough to have Insurance at ths time. If not, look into a large Dental School in your area, and highly skilled Dental Students are monitored by their peers, and may make this more affordable for you.
Yes, you could have them extracted and wear partial or full dentures. You do not mention your age. However, this is the one pair of natural teeth you will have for a lifetime. To fully enjoy your food, the palate is an essential part of your taste buds. With dentures, you will not get the taste factor, which is important in consuming a nutrious diet.
Hope this helps to answer some of your questions.
Delay of care will only complicate the matter further.
Good luck to you in your care.
