Mr. & Mrs Dolan, Ok, single guy. 39. divorced. I work for the government. 108K gross a year. No debt except to cars (48K/1,000 a month) 20 K in savings 10% taking out each paycheck, placed in Thrifts Savings Program. Agency match 5% I enjoy traveling but am a little frugal. I am looking for a new apartment, do not want to buy a house in this economy. I have read the that a person should spend no more than 25% of their gross on housing. I have also heard 33%, which is it? I have been doing my homework, I found a few luxury apartments that are nice, about $1800 (thats with utilities, parking, etc.) These places are conveniently located near my work and near grocery stores ad entertainment to cut down on driving. Is $1800 excessive? Is this to lavish?   Thank you, D. Annapolis MD
