No this should not prevent enlistment, IF it was not a felony. Being a commissioned officer is another matter. For officers orsenior enlisted military members there is a "0" tolerance policy, and a violation results in an undesirable discharge or release from active duty. Small violations before enlistment are addressed on a case by case basis, and usually seen as youthful mistakes. A recruiter would be the best person to ask about current policy, as it changes from year to year.

Cheertyme2002:  I can feel your concern in my heart.  Although I am not an attorney or a vet, I am a good citizen.  Tell your son to stand on the Constitution.  Since he has been accepted to law school, he knows that already.  Just remind him.  Sometimes the pressures in life can get us off "track."  If not culpable and standing on our beloved Constitution doesn't work, what is the point in enlisting?
