How can I find the name and location of the actual study that suggests a link between radiation exposure and heart disease in workers at nuclear power plants? I need it for my husband who received exceptionally high radiation at the SL1 reactor accident which killed 3 men on January 3, 1961.

Hi curtdot.  I did a search on studies linking Nuclear power to heart disease and came up with two relevant individuals. A researcher named Dr Dave MacGeoghegan and colleagues from Westlake Scientific Consulting in Cumbria published a paper in the International Journal of Epidemiology this year. It was Advance Access published online March 4, 2008. Here is the link to the actual paper: The non-cancer mortality experience of male workers at British Nuclear Fuels plc, 1946–2005. and a link to the article about it: http://www.nhs.uk/news/2007/January08/Pages/Radiationlinkedtoheartdisease.aspx

The other name that came up is an anti-nuclear activist named John Gofman. He wrote a bunch of papers, books etc. From what I can gather, most notably a book called Poisoned Power. Here is the link:Poisoned Power, The Case Against Nuclear Power Plants Before and After Three Mile Island It seems relevant also, but I'm not sure which would be more suitable so I included both. Also, here is the wikipedia link to Gofman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gofman

Sure hope this helps you. I wish you and your husband the very best.
